“We need three things; food on the table and a roof over our heads and each other.”
Donna Jo Napoli
As we move forward in this existence it is our responsibility to think in a longer time frame. Most of us have been taught to look at where is our next meal is coming from or our next paycheck or our next pair of high heels. How many of us have thought about the lasting legacy we will create? Buy a homeless person a meal and they have food right then, plant a fruit tree and feed generations.
It has always been my understanding that ecovillages, intentional communities, and communes all share the same basic goals; Find a peaceful way to live within a community that shares similarities and embraces the differences of the inhabitants, find a self-sustaining model to meet the needs of the community members, and implement sound designs that allows plans for an over abundance to be preserved and shared for lean times.
I have three intentional communities in my mind that I desire to see built and sustained. The first is in the design faze and will be very large. The groundwork of second will hopefully be the legacy of this generation. If time allows I would like to see the third implemented before my death.
I would like to see intentional communities all over the globe. Created in a manner that benefits the surrounding communities as well as those within the boundaries of the intentional communities. If we can prove to ourselves that we can create a sustainable community here, we can eventually create a network of communities that will lead humanity across the universe.
What shift are we required to make in our personal thinking that will get us to that place where every person can have “food on the table and a roof over our heads and each other”?
I posted this on the Intentional Communities for Goddesses, High Priestesses, and our Knights Facebook page. Thought you might be interested.
